#33 I am in this for the long-haul
A note explaining the mindset and purpose behind each point of my manifestation manifesto. I begin with the last point:
#33 I am in this for the long-haul.
The journey is endless, I will keep playing ∞
There are people who create projects, and there are people who live as creators. This is intended for the creators.
The attitude of a successful creator is defined by 3 key qualities:
patience + determination + resilience.
While the journey of creation is endless, there are many stages where you will see results and failures. Some stages may be quick and some may take much longer than you like to wait.
If you are not ready for the long haul and keep getting frustrated because you are not seeing expected results, creation is not the game for you.
While there may be ups and downs on the surface,
the key is to maintain stability and consistency deep within.
You can practice equanimity.
You will keep seeing people who do it faster, who jump across the potholes you keep falling into, who just race ahead while you tread along. Comparison in this case is a way to keep suffering. Each journey has a different speed, different challenges and obstacles, and a different destination.
Some may rocket to the top and then collapse into dust. Some may give up after the first few hurdles. Some may succeed and fail, get up, succeed and fail again. Living as a creator is to see all of this as part of the endless journey. Because…
Time doesn't adhere to your expectations, it aligns to your energy
Many people don't think about the time it will take before they jump in on an exciting dream and they feel entitled for quick results. Soon after the initial excitement has fizzled out, they go into frustration, and may soon give up.
The journey to create your deepest desires is full of obstacles and challenges, frustrations, disappointments, and failures. If you don't have the stomach for that, either drop the dream right away, or learn how to develop the qualities that will get you through.
Those qualities — namely resilience, determination, patience, along with other important qualities such as conviction, creativity, and an empowered mindset — can be developed like any skill.
I have been in the place where giving up felt like the easy and obvious choice:
“How could I have ever been so foolish to think this was possible?!”
”There is a reason it's called wishful thinking!”
”I should have just listened to them and stuck to the safe path.”
F🤘ck that nonsense.
Thankfully I didn't do any of that.
Just because these thoughts pass your mind doesn't mean you have to listen to or act on them.
We all feel like giving up, we all feel the desperation that arises from frustration.
The key is remembering that as a creator there is no end to the journey — the only way is through.
Know that there will be low points on the journey and choose how you want to face those. Your energy on the journey will change the way time moves.
When you enter low energy because of low circumstances, everything slows down. When you maintain a resilient attitude in the face of challenges and obstacles, you can leap through time in unthinkable ways by looking for the way instead of resigning to the situation.
Some challenges are only present to test your attitude. You may end up wasting years or you may jump across in seconds.
I am an eternal creator. I remember that if I am not creating, others are creating for me, and that is unacceptable. This is why I close my manifesto with the reminder that I choose to play the game forever.
